The Salvation Army serves a great number of children, families and individuals in need. The goal of the Oakland Chapter is to give a Hand Up, Not a Hand Down and to Make Poverty Uncomfortable.

Take a moment to learn more about the many programs provided by the Salvation Army; I think you may be surprised, I know I was. I actually had no idea the variety of services provided by the Salvation Army. Thank you to long time friend, Peggy Huntington and board member Mary Theroux for inviting me to a charity luncheon this Christmas season at the Claremont Country Club – Pageant of the Trees – a lovely luncheon, fundraiser and presentation. Of course, hearing the story told by a dad who was served by the Salvation Army was incredibly touching and as always, made me want to help. [Read More..]

Raise that Paddle

What a better way to kick off the holiday season than Socializing for a Cause.  As we get older we tend to attend more parties, galas, fundraisers and events that focus on wonderful and well deserved causes, just like the Annual Holly Ball put on by the Cancer League, Inc.  This magnificent event is always a beautiful, well attended and lively evening.  This year they added a photo booth– and what a great vehicle it was getting people in the mood for a little silliness and a whole lot of fun! What the Buzz!

By me, the Accidental Techy

Appropriately named, by a real, self-proclaimed nerd.  But all in good fun!

I went out the other evening with my single gal pal, obviously cool and in the know, and in just one hour I learned about two awesome Apps.  Of course, Charity is always on the top of my interest pile, so I was pretty excited to learn about CharityBuzz.  Be sure to implement CB into your next charity event or fundraiser.  Also be sure to check out my Travel App.  Just in time for summer!  All Apps can be downloaded on your smart phone or laptop.

Learn more:

Need a ride but don’t want to drive or take a cab?  Give Uber a try.  Request a ride from anywhere, anytime.  Simply download the App on your iPhone or Android and whala your private driver is on his/her way.

CharityBuzz

An online auction site where you can bid on incredible experiences and other unique items.  The best part is that the proceeds go to a designated charity.

It’s Genius!!  Check it out!   www.charitybuzz.com

Here’s what one pleased partner had to say: This was our first time partnering with an online auction house to raise money for one of John’s favorite charities, and we were very pleased with the work done by CharityBuzz. They took our event to the next level, helping us to raise significantly more money for our cause. We look forward to a long and continued relationship.
