Guests filled the Piedmont Center for the Arts last Wednesday evening, September 14th, 2016, for the Piedmont Business Network Fall Mixer. Neighbors, business-people and representatives from various groups and charitable organizations mixed, mingled and exchanged business cards.
Among new attendees included Robert Ogilvie, Oakland Director of SPUR Oakland (above ) Mathew Pease, Board Member of the Salvation Army, Giovanna Tanzillo of Uptown Body and Fender ( below ) and Corinne Kinczel Welpton owner of Rocky’s Market and Two Local Girls who catered the event. Councilman Bob McBain (above ) and Jennifer Cavanaugh shared a few words about their respective campaigns. ( Pictured Above, Piedmont Councilman Bob McBain, William Andersen, Interior Designer, SPUR Oakland Director, Robert Ogilvie and Lisa Oyama, Piedmont Volunteer. )
The event began at 6 PM. Guests gathered, mingled and enjoyed a glass of wine and a bite to eat and by 630 PM Laura Martin Bovard, Interior Designer and business owner introduced the PBN as I had to excuse myself to catch a plane to Los Angeles where I was attending the #BergmanEmmys Style Lounge to gift the 2016 Emmy nominees and other celebrities my latest book, Real Estate Rules! 52 ways to achieve success in real estate. ( See next Blog to preview images from Doris Bergman’s 7th Annual Style Lounge )
Each guest took the stage for one minute to introduce themselves, describe what they do and shared their favorite charity. This time reducing speaking time from 3 minutes to 1 in order to give guests ample time afterwards to connect one on one.
The energy was electric. This fall we tried something different in order to grow the network which seemed to work well. Five sponsors / hostesses assisted in planning and promotion of the event. Many of the sponsors had BNI members to draw upon; certainly a dynamic group of passionate business people.
Past attendees and Piedmont Business Network supporters included neighbor Peggy Huntington, Designer, Michael Friedes, Ruth Stroup of Farmers Insurance, Frank Silver, FJS Projects, Alex Hodgkinson of McCutcheon Construction and William Andersen Design, to name a few.
A huge thanks and gratitude to host/hostesses Pam Fullerton, Realtor at HIGHLAND PARTNERS, Michele Duffy Feng Shui Consultant, Nadja Pentic, Kitchen and Bath Design, Dr. Liz Dobbins of The Shine Center, Lori Solay, Solay Creative, Dale Marie Golden, Private Banker, Laura Martin Bovard, Interior Designer, Susie Garcia, Landscape Design and to our wonderful volunteers, Laura Cirolia, event graphics, Stacey Hansen, wine purveyor, Lily Dong Photography and my right hand man, Rob Terry, HIGHLAND PARTNERS.
The Piedmont Business Center ( 801 Magnolia Avenue across from Piedmont High School, down the street from Highland Partners Residential Real Estate office ) was formed in 2012 in order to provide a venue for local business people, charities and neighbors to connect and exchange ideas.
