Happy New Year FrontEmail from a fellow (empty nest) mom :

Christmas Card Back Kids 2015

“While I’m typing I just want to say thank you in a larger sense.  You have such a big heart and are so open.  I love your energy and I love that you are so sharing. I so appreciate your posts.  I’m there with you.  Being an empty nester is an all new experience.  Thanks so much.  Your posts have helped me with my own challenges being an empty nester.”

Debbi, “I don’t know if you remember me or not. I am the girl you introduced to the George Mark House committee last year. I took a tour of the house and volunteered at the luncheon and auction in San Francisco. I ended up buying a house in Visalia. My mom needs me closer, so I returned to help her. I still come up to visit my daughter in Berkeley, though. I just want to say that meeting you last year was a bright spot in my time there. You were so sweet to me from the start, when I was trying to find housing. Actually, you are an inspiration to me. I love your Facebook posts regarding friends and family. I wish you a very happy new year!”

where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration is:

Watching an actor on stage. I’m in awe every time I watch a movie or see a play. It was opening night, the play, Distracted, at the Piedmont Center for the Arts and once again I was reminded of my eternally unanswered question – How do actors remember all of their lines and deliver them so seamlessly? Even more difficult I could only imagine, when the actor is required to play different characters in a single play, transforming themselves from one accent and attitude to another like the flip of a switch. To me that’s truly incredible. Almost like magic.   [Read More..]

Collages, Vision Boards and now, Pinterest

when i was a young girl i began creating collage boards. i am sure you did too. i loved cutting out my favorite things from the pages of fashion magazines. my friends and i would create our collages together or give our creation to one another as a birthday gift. we would string together descriptive words like – You’re A Fox, Foxy, Best Friends. Best Friends Forever, Go SCOTS! Go Piedmont! Sexy, Cute and the like. it was so much fun 🙂 i continued collaging into my teenage years and even into my young adult life creating boards of inspiration depicting my goals and dreams. collages are now more commonly referred to as “vision boards”.  vision boards are a great way to let your imagination run wild, to become inspired as well as to visualize and chart your goals. and, today we have Pinterest, it’s my latest addiction. i try to carve out a few moments from time to time where i can imagine, surf and pin to my hearts content. oftentimes when i am getting dressed i refer to my own Pinterest boards for a bit of fashion inspiration, like this one… it’s just so much fun!
